Frequently Asked Questions

1What are all the safety measures incorporated in Alerio X-Ray machines?
X-Ray equipment produce ionising radiation. These can be harmful to both Patients and Doctors, if proper precautions are not followed. At Alerio, we know clearly that X-Rays are an important diagnostic tool, whereas radiation should not be a deterring factor. Hence, we have designed and manufactured our Alerio X-Rays such that they are least harmful, when they are used in a proper manner.
2What is the role of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB)?
In India, the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) (www.aerb.gov.in) is responsible for the regulation and proper usage of X-Rays. AERB approves X-Ray machines from radiation safety point of view.
Some of the key checks done by AERB include:
  • Ensuring manufacturer has the proper personnel, equipment and infrastructure to manufacture safe X-Ray equipment.
  • Ensuring X-Ray equipment being sold is safe from radiation point of view.
  • Monitoring the equipment are kept in good condition.
  • Making sure that correct procedures are followed.
AERB Suggestions on proper usage
  • Buy only AERB approved or authorised equipment.
  • Ask for the radiation test certificate from the manufacturer.
  • Perform a quality check of your equipment every year.
  • Limit exposure to X-Ray - both direct and scattered.
  • Wear protective apron and other accessories.
  • Wear dose monitoring badges.
  • Register yourself with AERB.
ALERIO is committed to AERB guidelines and stringently ensures that all its X-Ray machines are adhering to AERB guidelines.
3Is it necessary to have a Lead Lined and Separate X-Ray Room?
This depends on the type of X-Ray machine. As per AERB guidelines, for Dental Intra-Oral (IOPA), Handheld and Mobile type X-Ray, a separate Lead Lined room is not mandatory. However, it is mandatory that safety aprons and safety rules are followed when using these equipment.
4How to ensure Image Clarity in X-Ray equipment?
This depends on the type of X-Ray machine. As per AERB guidelines, for Dental Intra-Oral (IOPA), Handheld and Mobile type X-Ray, a separate Lead Lined room is not mandatory. However, it is mandatory that safety aprons and safety rules are followed when using these equipment.
  • A good X-Ray equipment is one of the requirements for a clear X-Ray.
  • Equal importance is to use a good quality film.
  • Ensure that the film has not expired.
  • The film will be kept in a dark cool environment, which is away from the X-Ray room.
  • Procedures followed for developing the film are also very important.
  • The developer, fixer and water should be used as per instructions.
  • Replace with fresh solution at least once in two weeks.
  • Avoid using colder or warmer solution.
  • Ensure that the dark room is not bright.
  • When using Digital Sensor, ensure that it is properly calibrated and serviced.
  • Digital Sensors degrade over time; closely observe and replace worn out sensors.
  • The imaging software will have various options for image adjustments.
  • Calibrate the sensor/film with the X-Ray machine.
  • Each sensor/film works best for a particular exposure parameter.
  • Imaging techniques are very important to get the right image.
  • Position the film as close as possible to the object to be imaged.
  • Keep the sensor/film perpendicular to the X-Ray cone.
  • During exposure, the patient should remain steady to avoid blurred image.
